Cost of Document Translation 2026

Contents

In Ukraine translation is priced per standard page (1 page = 1,800 characters including spaces) and depends on the language, document type, urgency and type of certification. As a guide: notarized translation starts from UAH 250, while standard forms (passport, diploma, certificate) start from UAH 150. These are starting prices only; government fees such as the apostille are paid separately.

This is a starting estimate for a standard one-page document. The exact price (depends on language, volume and certification) is set after a free quote.

How pricing works: the standard page

In Ukraine the unit of translation is the standard page — 1,800 characters including spaces of the source or finished text. It is not a physical A4 sheet: small print can pack 1.5 standard pages onto one sheet, while a short certificate may be less than one.

Documents fall into two groups. Standard forms (passport, diploma, birth or marriage certificate) have a fixed price per document because their length and layout are predictable. Text-heavy documents (contracts, company charters, medical reports, court rulings) are charged per page by actual volume. That is why the final figure is always set after we review the actual document.

What drives the price

The first factor is language. Common directions (English, Polish, German) are cheaper; rare languages cost more because fewer translators work with them. The second is document type: a standard form at a fixed price is always cheaper than a dense text.

The third factor is urgency: same-day or rush translation carries a surcharge. The fourth is certification. An agency stamp confirms that a professional translator did the work and costs less. Notarization is more expensive because the notary certifies the authenticity of the translator's signature (the notary does not check the text itself) — hence the guide price of "from UAH 250" for a notarized translation.

Indicative starting prices for 2026

Standard personal documents — passport, diploma, certificate — start from UAH 150 per document with an agency stamp. Notarized translation starts from UAH 250 per document. Text-heavy documents are charged per standard page, so the price depends on volume.

It is important to understand that these are prices for the translation and certification only. Government fees — the apostille (for example UAH 670 via the Ministry of Justice per document), consular legalization or a credential evaluation — are paid separately at the rates of the relevant authorities and are not included in the translation price. We quote the exact cost after reviewing your documents.

Remote model: the price without travel

You can order a translation entirely remotely from any city in Ukraine or from abroad. You send scans or photos of the documents, we calculate the cost and complete the translation, and we return the finished package by Nova Poshta.

If a notarial act or submission to a state body is required, we handle it in Kyiv under a power of attorney — you do not need to come in person. This model does not change the translation price: you pay for standard pages and certification plus delivery, not for geography. It is convenient for clients in the regions and those who have already moved abroad.

If you need a document to submit within Ukraine, order a notarized translation with Etalon and get an exact quote after we review your scans.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to translate one page?

A standard page is 1,800 characters including spaces, not an A4 sheet. The exact price depends on the language and document type: standard forms have a fixed price per document, while text-heavy ones are charged by actual page volume.

What is the difference between an agency stamp and notarization?

An agency stamp confirms that a professional translator did the work and is cheaper. Notarization costs more because the notary certifies the authenticity of the translator's signature; roughly from UAH 250 per document.

Is the apostille included in the translation price?

No. The apostille and consular legalization are separate government fees (for example UAH 670 for an individual via the Ministry of Justice). They are paid at the authorities' rates separately from the translation and certification price.

Why can't you quote a price right away over the phone?

Because volume is counted in standard pages by the actual text. Small print or a dense certificate can exceed 1,800 characters per sheet. That is why we quote the exact figure after reviewing the scans.

The translation price is built from standard pages, language, document type, urgency and certification, with government fees always separate. Send your scans and we will quote the exact cost with no travel required.
