Sworn translation of the Rezerv+ military record for temporary protection in Slovakia
Since 6 August 2026, Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60 filing a new or repeat application for temporary protection (dočasné útočisko) must evidence that they are meeting their military obligations. One of the two accepted routes is the electronic military-record document from the Rezerv+ app, submitted on paper and with a sworn translation into Slovak; a sworn translation into English is accepted as well. A screenshot or a photo of your phone will not do.
Etalon prepares exactly that translation: it is produced by a súdny prekladateľ listed by the Slovak Ministry of Justice, with the translator clause, the stamp, and binding to your printout. Office in Bratislava-Petržalka (Budatínska 29); everything else runs online from anywhere in Slovakia.

What changed on 6 August 2026
Slovakia changed the registration conditions for temporary protection for Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60, implementing a new EU Council implementing decision. The change applies to new and repeat applications; it does not reach those who already hold odídenec status and are not reapplying. Temporary protection itself has been extended until 4 March 2027.
Military obligations are evidenced in one of two ways: a valid travel document bearing a Ukrainian border exit stamp issued no more than 90 days before the application, or the Rezerv+ document submitted on paper. Age decides what the document has to show: for men aged 18 to 22 registration in the app is enough, while men aged 23 to 60 must show a record of release from military obligations.
The conditions are published by the Slovak Ministry of the Interior and the foreign police may refine them, so check the current wording before you file, or write to us and we will check it for you.
What the Rezerv+ military record is
Rezerv+ is the official Ukrainian app for conscripts, reservists and persons liable for military service. Since 16 December 2025 its electronic military-record document has been the primary one in Ukraine. New paper booklets are no longer issued and earlier ones remain valid, but where they diverge from the Ukrainian register the electronic entry prevails, which is why applicants now bring the document from the app.
What matters to a foreign authority is this: the electronic document and its printout carry the same legal force as the paper document. The printout is not a copy of a paper original, so it is not notarised. The document carries a QR code through which an authorised body reads your current status in the Ukrainian register, which is exactly why it is worth generating shortly before you file rather than a month ahead.
Slovak or English?
The conditions allow both: a sworn translation into Slovak, and equally a sworn translation into English. In practice Slovak is the safer choice, because it is the language of the proceedings and leaves no room for questions at the counter.
English makes sense when you intend to use the same printout outside Slovakia as well: other EU countries are introducing comparable requirements for men of conscription age, but their conditions differ and we verify them case by case. If you are unsure, we prepare the Slovak version and add English only if you genuinely need it.
When you do not need a translation
The document from the app may be officially certified by a diplomatic mission of Ukraine, in which case it enters the proceedings with that certification. If it is not certified, the applicant must let the foreign police officer verify the account live in the Rezerv+ app on an electronic device such as a mobile phone.
Live verification is a legitimate route, but it has two weak points: you need a working connection and a successful login right at the counter, and the officer is reading a screen in Ukrainian. A translated printout removes both risks and stays in the file after you walk away from the counter.
Why paper, and why an electronic translation is not a substitute here
The conditions speak of a document on paper. Our electronic sworn translation with the translator’s qualified signature works well for e-government and is sufficient for many proceedings, but for filing with the foreign police expect paper: the authority accepts the electronic form only where it allows electronic submission itself.
So this is how we do it: the translation is issued on paper, bound to the printout of your document, with the clause and stamp of the súdny prekladateľ. If the authority in your particular case does accept the electronic form, we say so upfront and hand over the electronic version too.
Where else you will need this document
Beyond temporary protection the document is useful elsewhere. When you move to another type of residence, for instance a prechodný pobyt for employment or study, the same foreign police conducts the proceedings and expects the same properly documented grounds. Employers and schools ask for it less often, but they do ask.
Ukrainian consular services are a separate story: they apply a Ukrainian rule under which the electronic document must be generated no earlier than 72 hours before your visit. That is a different rule from the Slovak one and the two should not be conflated, but if both appointments fall in the same week we will plan the order so that one document satisfies both.
How we work
- 1Generate the PDF in the Rezerv+ appOpen the military-record document, choose the PDF download from the menu and save the file. We need the full PDF with a legible QR code, not a screenshot.
- 2Send us the file and your filing dateBy e-mail or through the form. The appointment is booked through the foreign police reservation system; once you have it, we confirm the price and the turnaround, with an express option for tight dates.
- 3A súdny prekladateľ produces the translationA translator from the Ministry of Justice register translates the document, binds it to the printout and adds the clause and stamp. Your name is transliterated exactly as in your passport.
- 4Collect it and filePick it up in Petržalka or we post it to you. Generate the document shortly before filing so that the QR code shows your current status.
Prices
- Sworn translation of the Rezerv+ document into Slovak on paper, with clause and stamp, bound to the printoutindividual quote
- Sworn translation into English when you file the same document outside Slovakia as wellindividual quote
- Express turnaround when the document is generated right before the appointmentindividual quote
The Rezerv+ document is a short instrument, so the price follows the minimum scope of a sworn translation rather than a page count. Send the PDF and you get one final figure together with the turnaround; if your application needs further documents, we quote them together.
FAQ
Does the Rezerv+ document need an apostille?
The registration conditions do not mention an apostille: they speak of a sworn translation and of the document possibly being certified by a diplomatic mission of Ukraine, failing which live verification in the app follows. An apostille is also attached to instruments issued by an authority, and an electronic document from an app does not fit that scheme. The receiving authority has the final word, so we can ask on your behalf before you order.
Is an English translation enough?
Yes, a sworn translation into English is accepted as well. Slovak is nevertheless more universal: it is the language of the proceedings and leaves no question of whether the officer will accept it. Unless you have a specific reason for English, choose Slovak.
Does the printout need to be notarised?
No. The printout of the electronic military-record document is not a copy of a paper original and carries the same legal force as the paper document, so it is not notarised. The sworn translator binds the translation to that printout.
How long does the document stay usable?
It has no conventional expiry, but it shows your status at the moment of generation and its QR code points to the current register entry, so generate it shortly before filing. Ukrainian consular services apply a hard 72-hour rule; the Slovak conditions set no such deadline, yet a fresh document is always the safer one.
What if the app will not load at the counter?
Then live verification is not possible and you are left with either a document certified by the diplomatic mission or a translated printout. That is why we recommend the translation even to applicants who plan to rely on live verification: it is cheap insurance against poor signal and a rescheduled appointment.
Can this be handled remotely?
Yes. You send the PDF by e-mail and we deliver the finished translation anywhere in Slovakia, or you collect it at our office in Bratislava-Petržalka. No step requires you to come in person.
