A Police Clearance Certificate is an important document that confirms the absence of criminal records for an individual in Ukraine. It may be required in various situations: for obtaining a visa, employment abroad, participating in tenders, as well as for citizenship or studying abroad. In this article, we will explain where and how to get a Police Clearance Certificate in Ukraine, as well as how to order it online.
Where to Get a Police Clearance Certificate?
You can obtain a Police Clearance Certificate in several ways: If the submission is within Ukraine, the easiest way is to order the Police Clearance Certificate through the 'Diia' application. To do this, you need to register in the 'Diia' app, or if you are already registered, go to the section: Services - Certificates and Extracts - Police Clearance Certificate.
If for some reason you cannot do this in the app, applications are accepted at MVS service centres and on the services.mvs.gov.ua portal.
How to Order a Police Clearance Certificate?
To order a Police Clearance Certificate, choose the method that suits you: online through the Diia app or the services.mvs.gov.ua portal, or in person at an MVS service centre. The document is issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the timeline depends on its workload. Once the extract is in your hands, the translation agency 'Etalon' places the MVS apostille on it and produces the notarised or sworn translation.
How to Urgently Order a Police Clearance Certificate?
If you need the certificate urgently, the issuing timeline is set by the Ministry of Internal Affairs: an ordinary review takes longer than a request filed through the Diia app, where the extract is often ready within a few working days. A private agency cannot speed up the issuance. What genuinely saves time is the apostille and the translation: we run those two stages in parallel as soon as the extract is in your hands.
How to Make the Certificate Valid Abroad?
If you plan to use the Police Clearance Certificate abroad, it must be legalized. Depending on the country, an apostille or legalization of the document with subsequent translation may be required. The type of translation also depends on the country. Some countries may require verification with a second apostille. The translation agency 'Etalon' also offers these services, which allows saving time and avoiding errors in the document processing.
