Document translation in Cherkasy: the departure package
When documents are prepared for departure — for work, study, family reunification or residence — what gets translated is a package rather than a single paper. Order matters more than speed: first the list from whoever accepts the documents, then the documents themselves, then an apostille where one is required, and only then the translation. Assembled the other way round, the package has to be redone.
- The list is set by whoever accepts the documents: a consulate, an employer or an institution
- The translation comes last — after the apostille, or it will not cover the stamp
- The most commonly forgotten items are the criminal-record certificate and the diploma supplement
- Cherkasy has no consulate, border crossing or port — so the package is assembled and sent
The interregional Ministry of Justice department serving Cherkasy works at 3 Nebesnoi Sotni Street and the administrative service centre at 170 Blahovisna Street; the city has no consulate or border crossing, so packages are assembled and sent.
The order in which a package is assembled
Step one is the list. It comes from whoever accepts the documents: a consulate, an employer, an institution or the destination country's migration service. Without the list, collecting documents is guesswork — and that is the stage where people overpay most.
Step two is obtaining the documents, including those you do not hold: a criminal-record certificate, a duplicate of a certificate, a letter from an employer or a university. Step three is the apostille or other attestation, if the list calls for it. Only step four is the translation: it is made from the document in its final form, stamp included.
| Stage | Who does it | What happens if reordered |
|---|---|---|
| The list of documents | whoever accepts them | you collect the wrong things |
| Obtaining the documents | you — registry office, Diia, employer | one paper stalls the package |
| An apostille where needed | the authority | the translation has to be repeated |
| Translation and certification | the bureau | no consequence, if it truly is the last step |
What people forget most often
First, the criminal-record certificate: it is ordered last because its validity is limited, and for the same reason it is what most often holds up the whole package. Second, the diploma supplement: the diploma proves that education happened, the supplement proves what it contained, and without it the set reads as incomplete.
Third, children's documents: a birth certificate, travel permission, medical certificates per the destination's list. Fourth, a marriage or divorce certificate where a surname has changed: without it the chain from older documents to current ones does not hold. We ask about all four at the start, so the package is assembled once.
How many copies, and are copies enough
A translation is produced in as many copies as the institutions you file with: each certified copy stays in the file of whoever accepted it. For departure that is usually two or three sets — one for the consulate, one for the employer or institution, one for you.
Made in a single batch they cost less than a repeat order, because the text is translated once and only the certification repeats. If you are unsure of the number, take one spare: it is needed more often than expected and costs less than returning to the same work a month later.
Cherkasy: everything is assembled here and sent out
Cherkasy has no consulate, no border crossing and no port — the city stands on the Dnipro, and for documents that means a simple conclusion: the package is assembled here and filed remotely or in another city. Order and completeness therefore matter more than they do for a resident of a border town who can drive over and check on the spot.
The inter-regional department of the Ministry of Justice that serves the city works at 3 Nebesnoi Sotni Street, and administrative services are handled by the administrative service centre at 170 Blahovisna Street. A translation is not handed in to either: we work from photographs and send the finished set by Nova Poshta — to Cherkasy or to whichever city you are flying out of.

FAQ
How much does document translation cost in Cherkasy?
A document in the package starts at UAH 150 and a translation with notarial certification at UAH 250. A diploma supplement and an employment record book are priced by volume.
Where do I start if I am leaving?
With the list from whoever accepts the documents. Everything else — collecting, the apostille and the translation — follows from that list, and in that order the package is made once.
Why is the translation made last?
Because it has to cover the document in its final form. If an apostille is added after the translation, the stamp stays untranslated and the work is asked for again.
What is forgotten most often?
The criminal-record certificate, the diploma supplement, children's documents, and a marriage certificate where a surname has changed.
How many copies should I order?
Count the institutions and add one spare. The saving comes from ordering them together: the part charged per copy is the certification, not the work on the text.
