How do you recognise a foreign diploma in Ukraine?
The decision is taken by the MES, while the assessment is carried out by the state centre ENIC Ukraine - both in Kyiv, which is why a Kyiv case loses no time to shipping. What gets recognised is not a diploma in general but a specific qualification from a specific institution: the expert compares your programme against the Ukrainian one subject by subject and hour by hour, which makes the transcript more important here than the diploma itself.
There is also a fork worth checking before you start: Ukraine has mutual-recognition agreements with a number of countries, and then part of the steps falls away. We check that for your country free of charge - finding out in advance is cheaper than paying for a procedure you did not need.
What documents are required for nostrification?
What to bring or send: the original diploma, the transcript with grades, a notarised Ukrainian translation of both, and a copy of your passport. For most countries the originals also need an apostille or consular legalisation - done in the issuing country, not in Ukraine, and it is the most frequently missed step.
Kyiv residents often arrive thinking they will file it themselves since the ministry is nearby. Filing yourself is indeed allowed - but an incomplete package is returned, and a return costs weeks rather than days. So the list for your country, level of education and purpose of recognition is compiled free before any work starts: that is precisely the part where a mistake is most expensive.
Recognition of a Ukrainian diploma abroad
