Diploma nostrification & recognition: both directions

Recognition (formerly called nostrification) confirms that your diploma is valid for study or work in another country. We work in both directions: a foreign diploma to be recognised in Ukraine (through the State Enterprise Information & Image Centre, ENIC Ukraine, at the Ministry of Education and Science) and a Ukrainian diploma to be prepared for an authority abroad. Important: an apostille is the first step, not the recognition itself. We handle everything remotely across Ukraine — we advise, apostille, translate and submit the application on your behalf under a notarised power of attorney.

  • Both directions: recognising a foreign diploma in Ukraine and preparing a Ukrainian one for the destination country's authority
  • Honest about the apostille's role — it is a prerequisite for recognition, not a substitute for it
  • We assemble the full file, translate it and file the application for you — your presence is not required
  • Online across Ukraine: documents move by Nova Poshta, submission handled in Kyiv by power of attorney

We work remotely across Ukraine: we receive and return documents via Nova Poshta, and we handle submission and collection in Kyiv under a notarised power of attorney — you do not need to come in person.

Recognition of a foreign diploma in Ukraine

If you studied abroad and want to study or work in Ukraine, your diploma goes through a recognition procedure. The authorised body is the State Enterprise Information & Image Centre (ENIC Ukraine) at the Ministry of Education and Science. The Ministry of Education and Science makes the decision on the basis of that centre's expert assessment: the outcome may be full recognition, partial recognition, or recognition on condition of passing additional exams or clarifying qualifications. We do not decide on the Ministry's behalf and do not promise a guaranteed outcome — instead we prepare a correct, complete file so the procedure runs without needless rejections. Before submission the foreign document must be legalised (apostille or consular legalisation, depending on the issuing country) and have a notarised Ukrainian translation.

Recognition of a Ukrainian diploma abroad

If you plan to study or work outside Ukraine, your diploma is prepared to meet the requirements of the specific country and its competent authority. Here the procedure itself takes place abroad (for example, in Poland through the university, in Germany via anabin/ZAB), and the final decision rests with that authority. Our part is to prepare the documents so they are accepted: apostille the diploma and its supplement through the Ministry of Education, provide a sworn or notarised translation into the country's language, and format everything for the receiving side. We do not 'nostrify abroad' and do not influence another body's decision — we make sure your file is flawless.

WES / ICAS: diploma evaluation for Canada and the USA

For immigration or study in Canada and the USA, a Ukrainian diploma goes through an evaluation (credential evaluation) at a designated organization — most often WES or ICAS — not nostrification. You order the procedure yourself on the organization website; Ukrainian universities or the Ministry of Education do not evaluate via WES. Our part is to prepare the documents so they are accepted: an apostille from the Ministry of Education on the diploma and its supplement, a word-for-word translation to WES requirements, and, if needed, a request to ENIC Ukraine (the Information and Image Centre), which verifies the education and sends the package directly to WES. There are Document-by-Document and the more detailed Course-by-Course evaluations (with GPA conversion) — you choose the type based on your goal. We do not influence the WES decision; we only make your package flawless.

Apostille ≠ nostrification: the correct sequence

This is the most common confusion. An apostille only certifies the authenticity of the seal and signature on a document — it does not confirm the level of your qualification. Recognition (nostrification) is a separate procedure at an education authority, for which the apostille is a prerequisite. The correct order is: legalisation first (apostille on the diploma and supplement, or consular legalisation), then translation, and only then submission for recognition. Skip the apostille and the recognition application will not be accepted. We build the chain in the right order so you do not pay twice for repeated steps.

Documents and timelines

A basic file for recognising a foreign diploma in Ukraine: the application, the original and a notarised copy of the legalised diploma, the supplement (transcript of grades), a notarised translation, a copy of your passport, and information on prior education. The exact list depends on your case and the issuing country. On timelines: the market typically quotes 1 to 4 months, but the official term and state fee depend on the specific situation and authority — we give exact figures after reviewing your documents, never as a blind guess.

How we work

  1. 1Consultation and checkYou send scans of the diploma and supplement — we determine the direction (into Ukraine or abroad), the country, the required legalisation and the real list of steps.
  2. 2Legalisation and translationWe apostille the diploma and supplement (through the Ministry of Education) or arrange consular legalisation, then provide a notarised or sworn translation for the destination authority.
  3. 3Filing the applicationWe submit the documents for recognition to the Information & Image Centre (ENIC at the Ministry) or prepare the file for the foreign authority — on your behalf under a notarised power of attorney.
  4. 4Support through to the resultWe stay in contact with the authority, respond to queries and supply additional documents, and return the finished result by post or electronically.

FAQ

How is recognition different from an apostille?

An apostille certifies the authenticity of the seal and signature on a document — it is a prerequisite. Recognition (nostrification) is a separate procedure at an education authority that confirms your qualification is valid for study or work. Apostille first, then recognition.

Do I need an apostille before applying for recognition?

Yes. A foreign diploma must be legalised (apostille or consular legalisation, depending on the country) and have a notarised translation before submission. Without that, the recognition application will not be accepted.

How much does nostrification cost and how long does it take?

The market usually quotes 1 to 4 months, but the official term and state fee depend on the case and the authority. The preparation cost is roughly the figures shown; we give an exact quote and timeline after reviewing your documents.

Will the diploma be fully recognised?

The decision rests with the Ministry of Education and Science, acting on the expert assessment of the Information & Image Centre (ENIC Ukraine). The outcome may be full, partial, or conditional on additional exams. We do not decide on the authority's behalf and do not promise the outcome — we only prepare a correct file.

How do I get a Ukrainian diploma recognised abroad?

We prepare the documents to meet the country's requirements: an apostille on the diploma and supplement through the Ministry of Education and a sworn/notarised translation. The procedure itself is run by the country's authority (university, ZAB, etc.) — the final decision is theirs; we ensure the file is correct.

Can this be done remotely across Ukraine?

Yes. You send scans online and originals via Nova Poshta. We handle submission and collection in Kyiv on your behalf under a notarised power of attorney, so there is no need to come in person.
