Apostille in Ivano-Frankivsk: how it works in 2026
An apostille validates a Ukrainian certificate, diploma or extract for 120+ Hague Convention countries – Canada included since January 2024. Ivano-Frankivsk is the justice hub of the Carpathian west: its interregional Ministry of Justice office administers four oblasts. You never need to visit it, though – since 1 February 2026, Justice-category documents are filed at any civil-registry (DRACS) office, at a notary or via the Diia app: 670 UAH state fee, up to 3 business days. Diplomas (Education Ministry) and police checks (Interior Ministry) run through Kyiv – Etalon files those for you remotely.

Ivano-Frankivsk is the justice hub of the Carpathian west – its Ministry of Justice office administers four oblasts – yet since February 2026 apostilles are filed via Diia or any DRACS office, and Etalon covers every Kyiv-side route remotely.
A regional justice HQ you never have to visit
The Ivano-Frankivsk interregional justice department is a genuine regional headquarters – its structural subdivisions also cover Ternopil, Chernivtsi and Zakarpattia oblasts. Yet jurisdiction no longer defines the queue: under Ministry of Justice order No. 3177/5 (in force since 1 February 2026), Justice-category documents – civil-registry certificates, notarial copies, court rulings – are accepted at any DRACS office, at a notary, in a state archive, or electronically via Diia.
The fee and the timeline are identical whichever intake you choose: 670 UAH for individuals (1160 UAH for legal entities) and up to 3 business days, legally extendable to a month when a signature or registry record is verified.
What still routes through Kyiv
Educational documents – diplomas and transcripts of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University (renamed from Precarpathian National in 2025) and Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University – are apostilled by the Ministry of Education in Kyiv, on longer timelines. Police-clearance certificates have been apostilled by the Interior Ministry itself since 2023 (Cabinet resolution No. 631): in-person intake is Kyiv-only (51 UAH), while Diia bundles the certificate with its apostille and Ukrposhta delivers it. Medical certificates belong to the MFA. Etalon files all of these on your behalf.
Where Ivano-Frankivsk documents usually go
The signature corridor for this region is Canada – the very first Ukrainian emigration to Canada started from the village of Nebyliv in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast in 1891, and family ties still drive the paperwork. Since 11 January 2024 Canada is a Hague Convention member, so an apostille is enough – no consular legalisation. Our separate page on documents for Canada from Ivano-Frankivsk covers that package in detail.
The second typical route is the EU – work or study in Poland, Czechia or Germany. Sequence matters: the stamp goes on the original or a notarised copy first, and the translation then covers the document together with its apostille.

Etalon has no office in Ivano-Frankivsk – and none is needed: scans travel by messenger, paper originals by Nova Poshta, and the finished set returns to any branch or parcel locker in Ivano-Frankivsk or wherever you live now.
